Vinted tracking is different from tracking a shop order, because the "warehouse" is another person. Every status you see sits on top of a deadline in Vinted's own rules: how long the seller has to ship, how long tracking can stay quiet, and how long you have to act after delivery. Every status phrase and every number below comes from Vinted's own help pages. The examples reference the UK help centre. Timings can differ slightly by country and shipping type.
Short answer: "Shipped" starts the clock and tracking can take up to 48 hours to appear. "In transit" is normal for a long time, and Vinted itself says a parcel can take up to 25 business days to arrive before it is treated as a problem. "Delivered" starts a 2-day confirmation window in which you either press "Everything is OK" or raise an issue. If the status turns to "Parcel seems to be lost", press "I have an issue" and Vinted's Buyer Protection refund process takes over.
How Vinted shipping actually works
When a buyer pays, Vinted sends the seller a prepaid label: "After you make a sale, we'll send a pre-paid Vinted-generated shipping label to your email and Vinted inbox." The seller must "ship the item within 5 business days", using the carrier the buyer chose, because Vinted "cannot track parcels sent with a different shipping provider than indicated in the order details."
The label can be printable or digital depending on the carrier. For InPost lockers, sellers create the label straight from the Vinted app, and InPost's labels "are QR codes, which means you don't need to print anything."
On Vinted's UK shipping pages the named delivery providers are Evri, InPost, DPD, Royal Mail, Relay, AnyVan and DHL Express. The carrier's own tracking runs underneath Vinted's status, so the courier's site often shows more detail than the conversation screen.
The statuses and the deadlines behind them
| Status | What it means | The deadline behind it |
|---|---|---|
| Sold, waiting to ship | Seller has the label, parcel not sent | Seller has 5 business days to ship |
| Shipped | Seller sent it or confirmed sending | Tracking can take up to 48 hours to appear |
| In transit | Moving through the carrier's network | Up to 25 business days is still "in transit" by Vinted's rules |
| At the pick-up point | Waiting for the buyer to collect | Usually 7-15 days to collect, depending on the carrier |
| Delivered | Carrier delivered, or buyer marked as received | 2-day confirmation window starts |
| Parcel seems to be lost | Tracking has gone quiet too long | Press "I have an issue" for a refund |
| Returning to sender | Uncollected or undeliverable, going back | Order cancelled, buyer refunded in full |
Tracking has not updated. When is it actually a problem?
Later than you would think, by Vinted's own rules:
- Right after shipping: "It can take up to 48 hours for the tracking information to first appear on Vinted."
- If the seller confirmed sending but no tracking ever appears: "If the tracking details do not appear within 4 business days after the seller presses 'I confirm that I've sent this order', the order will be cancelled automatically" and the buyer is refunded.
- In transit: "It may take up to 25 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) for a parcel to arrive. If the parcel was sent less than 25 business days ago, it's likely still in transit." For custom (non-integrated) shipping the wait is 21 business days.
- If the seller never ships: "If we don't receive any tracking updates or a confirmation that the order has been sent within 5 business days of the item's purchase, the order will be cancelled the next business day." Sellers can ask the buyer to extend the deadline by 3 or 5 additional business days.
So a quiet week on a Vinted order is not an emergency. The system is built around slow, cheap, consumer-to-consumer shipping, and the refund rails activate automatically at each deadline.
What does "parcel seems to be lost" mean on Vinted?
It is Vinted's own signal that tracking has been silent past its thresholds. Their guidance: "If it's been more than 25 business days since the parcel was shipped or if the tracking status on your conversation screen changes to 'Parcel seems to be lost' please press 'I have an issue' on the conversation screen for help."
That button is the whole process. Vinted's refund policy states: "You'll get a full refund if the order is confirmed as lost, damaged, or not received", covering the item price, shipping and the Buyer Protection fee. You do not chase the carrier yourself. The generic version of a silent feed is covered in why a package gets stuck in transit.
The parcel is at the pick-up point
When a parcel reaches a locker or shop, "the carrier will send you a pick-up code to your phone and email linked to your Vinted account." Collection windows are carrier-specific: "Usually, the buyer has 7-15 days to collect the item."
Miss the window and the return flow starts on its own: "If the parcel is not picked up within the indicated time, it will be returned to the seller. In this case, your order will be cancelled automatically, and you will receive a refund." The same pattern exists on retail orders, covered in awaiting collection meaning, but Vinted is unusual in cancelling and refunding automatically.
Delivered: the 2-day window that actually matters
"Once the status shows 'Delivered', the 2-day order confirmation period begins." The buyer either presses "Everything is OK", which releases the payment to the seller, or reports an issue. If the buyer does nothing, the order completes automatically. Orders from Pro sellers carry an extended 14-day issue window under Vinted's Pro Refund Policy.
Two edge cases from Vinted's own pages:
- Delivered on the carrier's site but not on Vinted: the buyer can "select 'Track parcel' then 'Mark as received' on the conversation screen." Sellers cannot do this on the buyer's behalf.
- Custom shipping with no scan: after 21 business days "the order will automatically be marked as 'delivered'", and the buyer then has 2 days to report if nothing actually arrived.
If a parcel is marked delivered and genuinely is not there, the checklist in package says delivered but not received applies, but on Vinted the report goes through "I have an issue", not to the courier.
What "returning to sender" means on Vinted
The delivery failed for good: an uncollected pickup parcel, a bad address, or repeated failed attempts. Vinted cancels the order "once we receive confirmation the parcel is on its way back to the seller" and refunds the buyer in full, including shipping and Buyer Protection fees. The seller gets the item back. Neither side needs to negotiate, which is the main difference from the retail version described in what returned to sender means.
The merchant view
Vinted is a masterclass in something most brands never build: every tracking state maps to an automatic action. Silence past a threshold triggers a refund path. An uncollected parcel triggers a cancellation. A delivery triggers a confirmation window. Nobody files a ticket to ask permission.
Retail brands run the same journeys with none of the automation, which is why WISMO tickets exist. Pango gives brands that same status-to-action wiring: its order tracking normalizes carrier feeds and treats a stalled scan, a waiting pickup or a failed delivery as a trigger for a message or a workflow, on the same record that runs returns.
The bottom line
Vinted's statuses only make sense next to Vinted's deadlines: 5 business days to ship, 48 hours for tracking to appear, 25 business days before lost, 7 to 15 days to collect, 2 days to confirm. Know the clock behind the status and you know whether to wait or press the button. For brands, the deeper lesson is that statuses should trigger actions, not tickets.
