A Vinted order has three clocks: the seller's deadline to post it, the carrier's transit time, and the point at which Vinted treats a parcel as lost. Most "how long does Vinted take" questions are answered by knowing which clock you are on. Every figure below is from Vinted's UK help centre.
Short answer: the seller has 5 business days to ship after you buy. Once it is posted, tracking can take up to 48 hours to appear on Vinted. Vinted's own guidance is that domestic shipping typically takes 2 to 5 business days and international shipping 4 to 8 business days, with Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays not counted; items bought with a verification service can take up to 10 business days. Vinted does not consider a parcel lost until 25 business days after it was sent. So a typical UK order arrives within a week or so of purchase, and a slow one is still "in transit" in Vinted's eyes for five weeks.
The three clocks
| Clock | Vinted's figure | Source wording |
|---|---|---|
| Seller's handling time | 5 business days to ship | "Sellers have 5 business days to ship the item." |
| Tracking appears | Up to 48 hours | "It can take up to 48 hours for the tracking information to first appear on Vinted." |
| Domestic transit | Typically 2 to 5 business days | "Typically, domestic shipping takes 2-5 business days" |
| International transit | Usually 4 to 8 business days | "International shipping usually takes 4-8 business days" |
| With Item or Electronics Verification | Up to 10 business days | "may take up to 10 business days to be delivered" |
| Considered lost | 25 business days after sending | "It may take up to 25 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) for a parcel to arrive." |
Business days exclude weekends and public holidays, so a parcel bought on a Friday afternoon has its five-day shipping deadline the following Friday, not Wednesday.
How long does a seller have to ship on Vinted?
Five business days. Vinted states it plainly: "Once you receive an order, you'll have 5 business days to send the item. Unfortunately, if you miss this deadline, the order will be cancelled automatically." If no tracking update or shipping confirmation arrives within those five business days, "the order will be cancelled the next business day" and the buyer is refunded. A seller who cannot make the deadline can request an extension of 3 or 5 additional business days from the conversation screen, so a purchase can legitimately sit unshipped for up to ten business days if the buyer agrees.
If you are the buyer and day three has passed with no movement, that is normal. Day six with no tracking is when the automatic cancellation is about to fire.
How long does Vinted shipping take once posted?
This is the carrier's clock, and Vinted gives ranges rather than promises: 2 to 5 business days domestically, 4 to 8 internationally. Which carrier is doing the work depends on what the buyer chose at checkout (on Vinted's UK pages the named providers are Evri, InPost, DPD, Royal Mail, Relay, AnyVan and DHL Express), and that carrier's own tracking is the more detailed one once the first scan appears. The status vocabulary for the main ones is in Vinted tracking statuses, InPost, Evri, DPD and Royal Mail.
Two things stretch the range. Tracking can lag the parcel by up to 48 hours, so "not shipped yet" on Vinted often means "shipped, not scanned". And a verification service adds a stop at Vinted's verification hub, which is why verified items are quoted at up to 10 business days.
When is a Vinted parcel late?
Vinted's threshold is 25 business days from sending. Before that, its help centre says, "if the parcel was sent less than 25 business days ago, it's likely still in transit." After 25 business days, or if the status on the conversation screen changes to "Parcel seems to be lost", the buyer presses "I have an issue" and Vinted's refund process starts. That is a long wait by the standards of a normal UK parcel, and it is worth knowing before you open a dispute at day ten, which Vinted will not act on.
A practical reading: a domestic parcel with no scan for a week deserves a message to the seller (to confirm it was actually posted) and a look at the carrier's own tracking. A parcel with scans that has stalled at one status for more than a week is a carrier problem; what each stalled status means is in why is my package stuck in transit.
After delivery
Once the status shows "Delivered", a 2-day window opens. If the parcel is not there, select "I have an issue" within those 2 days; the checks to run first (neighbours, safe places, a scan that fired early) are in package says delivered but not received. For locker and pickup-point deliveries, there is a collection deadline after which the parcel returns to the seller and the order is cancelled; see awaiting collection.
For sellers: what buyers see
Buyers see the five-business-day deadline counting down, and most complaints come from the gap between posting and the first scan. Post early in the week, keep the receipt or drop-off confirmation, and tell the buyer when you have posted so the 48-hour tracking lag does not look like silence.
For merchants: the same problem at scale
Vinted's ranges exist because the marketplace does not control the carrier and cannot promise a date. A brand shipping its own orders can: it knows its handling time, its cut-off and each carrier's measured transit per lane, and can show a date at checkout and keep it. How that promise is computed is in what is order promising, and the tracking layer that tells the customer before they ask is what Pango runs across more than 100 carriers through prebuilt connectors.
The bottom line
Five business days for the seller, two to five (domestic) or four to eight (international) for the carrier, 48 hours for tracking to catch up, and 25 business days before Vinted calls it lost. Know which clock you are on and most of the anxiety goes away. Every status you will see along the way is explained in Vinted tracking statuses.
