Returns software is priced in five shapes: a monthly plan with a returns cap and a per-return overage, a monthly plan by volume band, a per-return meter from the first return, a shopper-funded fee at checkout, and an enterprise quote with no public number. The sticker is the least important line. What decides the invoice is what happens in the month after peak, when return volume spikes and every one of these meters spikes with it.
Every price below comes from the vendor's own pricing page or Shopify App Store listing, quoted in the currency it is published in. Where the vendor's website and its App Store listing disagree, we say so. Where a vendor publishes no price, we say that instead of guessing.
Short answer: Loop lists a free Checkout+ tier and paid plans at $155 and $340 a month. ReturnGO's current listing is $147 a month for 110 returns and $297 for 300, with $1.25 and $0.90 per extra return. AfterShip Returns starts around $19 a month. 8returns starts at €79 a month for 100 returns with €0.99 per extra. yayloh starts at $190 a month and scales with volume. Reclaimit starts at 9,900 SEK a month on quote. Redo is free to the merchant because shoppers pay a coverage fee. Happy Returns and Narvar publish no prices. Pango has a free plan and custom paid pricing by order volume, with no per-return meter.

The five meters, and what they do to your bill
Per-return overage. ReturnGO's current listing includes 110 returns at $147 and bills $1.25 for each extra; 8returns includes 100 at €79 and bills €0.99 each after that; Return Prime bills $0.49 to $0.79 per request over caps as small as 5, 60 and 180. A fashion brand returning 25% of 4,000 orders generates 1,000 returns a month, which is not a rounding error on any of those caps.
Percentage of retained revenue. 8returns charges 2.5%, 2% and 1% by tier on store credit and Shop Now exchanges. That is a fee on the exact behaviour returns software exists to encourage.
Shopper-funded coverage. Redo's merchant price is $0 because the shopper buys coverage at checkout, priced from the merchant's own return rate and average label cost, typically $1.98 to $2.98 per order. Most merchants enable it for exchanges and store credit only, so a refund still costs the shopper the label. The bill moved from your invoice to your checkout.
Volume bands and quotes. yayloh's price "adapts to the size and needs of your brand" from $190 a month; Reclaimit starts at 9,900 SEK a month with the number set by expected cases, complexity and integrations; Happy Returns and Narvar give no number until the call.
Feature gates. The exchange that rescues the most revenue, swapping to a different product, sits on Return Prime's top tier. Return labels start at Return Prime's Grow plan. 8returns caps carriers at one on Starter. Loop's free Checkout+ tier is a checkout product; the first full returns plan is Essential at $155.
Website vs App Store: two prices for one product
Two vendors publish different figures in different places. Return Prime's website shows Grow and Thrive AI at $100 a month for 200 returns, while its Shopify listing shows $19.99 for 60 and $79.99 for 180. ReturnGO's App Store listing today shows no free plan, while third-party comparisons written earlier in the year list one. Get the number in writing, dated, before you sign, and price your peak month rather than your average one.
What the price does not tell you
The cheapest returns portal is the one that leaves the most money in refunds. At Switch Nails, running returns on the same record as carriers and tracking meant 19% of returns stayed as an exchange or store credit, exchangers repurchased at 33% against 20% for refund-takers, and 99% of returns ran self-serve. Put your own number on it with the returns leak calculator, then read the best returns management software roundup for scope, how to choose returns management software for the buying method, and post-purchase platform pricing for the hidden lines every vendor quote should spell out.
How Pango prices it
Pango has a free plan and paid pricing set by order volume. No per-return meter, no percentage on store credit, no fee at your customer's checkout, and no gate on exchanges to any product: every plan runs returns, tracking, delivery promises and the warehouse on one order record, with AI agents doing the routine work. Vendor-by-vendor detail is in the Loop, ReturnGO, Return Prime, AfterShip, 8returns, yayloh, Reclaimit, Redo, Happy Returns and Narvar comparisons.
