"How long does Depop take" is really four questions: how long the seller has to post, how long the parcel takes, how long until the seller is paid, and how long a buyer has to complain. Depop answers all four in its help centre, and the answers differ between the UK and the US. This page puts them in one place.
Short answer: Depop says most sellers ship within 2 days. In the US, an order not shipped within 10 days of purchase is cancelled automatically and the buyer refunded. Delivery time then depends on the carrier (Evri for Depop Shipping in the UK, USPS in the US). Sellers are paid 2 business days after the item shows as delivered or 10 business days after the sale, whichever comes first, and the money can take up to 5 days to reach a bank account. Buyers who paid with Depop Payments can report an order as not arrived within 30 days of the transaction.
How long do sellers have to ship on Depop?
Depop's guidance, repeated across its UK, US and worldwide shipping guides, is that "most sellers ship within 2 days". That is a norm, not a rule. The hard deadline is stated for the US: "If you haven't shipped the order within 10 days of purchase, it will automatically be cancelled and the buyer will receive a full refund." The same 10-day limit applies to adding tracking when a seller arranges their own shipping: "If you don't add your tracking info to the receipt within 10 days of the sale, your order will be canceled and the buyer will be refunded."
So as a buyer, two days of silence is normal, a week is slow, and in the US the tenth day is when the order cancels itself. As a seller, the payout clock (below) rewards shipping fast.
How long does Depop take to deliver?
Depop does not run delivery; the carrier does. With Depop Shipping, that is Evri in the UK and USPS in the US, and the parcel is fully tracked from the label Depop generates. Sellers who choose "Other" arrange their own carrier and add the tracking number themselves. Transit time is therefore the carrier's, and the carrier's own tracking is the detailed one once the first scan appears. Each carrier's statuses are explained in Evri tracking statuses and USPS tracking statuses; how the Depop app shows the two states it knows about, shipping pending and shipped, is in Depop tracking statuses.
Depop also asks everyone to "allow extra time for scanning delays", which is the gap between a parcel being handed over and its first scan; what that gap looks like from the outside is in shipping label created but not moving.
How long does it take for Depop to pay you?
This is the deadline sellers search for most, and Depop states it precisely.
| Situation | When Depop sends the payout | Depop's wording |
|---|---|---|
| UK, Depop Shipping (via Evri) | 2 business days after delivery, or 10 business days after the sale, whichever is first | Depop sends the payment 2 business days after the item shows as delivered, or 10 business days after the sale, whichever comes first |
| UK, manual shipping | 10 business days after delivery | "we'll send your payment 10 business days after the order has been delivered" |
| US | 2 business days after delivery, or 10 business days after the sale, whichever is first | 2 business days after the item shows as delivered, or 10 business days after the sale, whichever comes first (Depop's US payout guide) |
| Bank transfer | Up to 5 days after the payout is sent | "Funds can take up to 5 days to appear in your bank account after they're sent" |
Payouts go to the seller's Depop Balance and then to the connected bank account; Depop notes that all payouts are processed through Depop Payments, powered by Stripe, and that some early Depop Payments users and Top Sellers are on a different schedule. If a payment has not reached the bank "after 10 working days (14 calendar days)", Depop's advice is to contact support.
The practical consequence: a UK seller using Depop Shipping who posts on day one and whose parcel is delivered on day three is paid on day five, plus bank time. A seller who ships manually waits ten business days after delivery.
How long do buyers have to report a problem?
With Depop Payments, "you can report an order as not arrived within 30 days of the transaction date". Depop's two suggested steps before that are to check the tracking on the receipt and to message the seller. Depop's UK shipping policy also states a carrier liability for lost or damaged parcels of up to £20, provided a missing parcel is reported within 21 days of being scanned in. If the tracking says delivered and the parcel is not there, the checks to run first are in package says delivered but not received.
A timeline for a typical order
- Day 0: purchase. The seller sees the sale and, in the US, a 10-day shipping clock starts.
- Days 1 to 2: most sellers ship. Tracking may lag the hand-over by a scan or two.
- Days 2 to 7: carrier transit, by Evri or USPS or the seller's own carrier.
- Delivery plus 2 business days: seller paid (Depop Shipping), or 10 business days after the sale if sooner.
- Up to 5 days later: money in the seller's bank.
- Day 30: last day for the buyer to report a non-arrival under Depop Payments.
For merchants
Marketplaces quote norms ("most sellers ship within 2 days") because they cannot control the seller or the carrier. A brand shipping its own orders can commit to a date, because it knows its handling time and its carriers' measured transit per lane, and can tell the customer before they ask when something slips. That is the difference between a norm and a promise, described in what is delivery promise; the tracking that keeps it is what Pango runs across more than 100 carriers through prebuilt connectors.
The bottom line
Two days is the norm to ship, ten is the US deadline, the carrier decides transit, sellers are paid two business days after delivery or ten after the sale, and buyers have thirty days to report a no-show. Every Depop status along the way is explained in Depop tracking statuses.
