Swap and Loop Returns are the two names a fashion brand hears first when it wants exchange-first returns on Shopify, and they overlap more than they used to. Everything attributed to either vendor below was read on swap-commerce.com or loopreturns.com on 6 November 2026, and nothing comes from review sites or from either vendor's page about the other. Prices and features change; check the vendor's page before you sign.
Short answer: Both run exchange-first returns with store credit, Shop Now and Shop Later flows, a shopper-funded free-returns opt-in (each calls its own Checkout+) and optional package protection. They differ in scope and in what they publish. Loop is a post-purchase platform built for Shopify, now on other platforms through a custom implementation, with tracking, delivery promise and order editing beside returns, and it publishes prices: Checkout+ "Free" for merchants who qualify, Returns "Starting at $340 per month" for "Up to 1,000 returns". Swap sells returns inside a wider commerce platform that also covers multi-carrier outbound shipping, cross-border duties and taxes and sales tax, runs as a Shopify app and as returns infrastructure via API for other stacks, and publishes no price list. For a fashion brand it comes down to geography and stack: Loop if your returns are mostly US and Canada domestic and you want tracking from the same vendor, Swap if you sell cross-border and want local return addresses, consolidation and shipping on one contract.
Swap in one paragraph
Swap lists its products as Agentic Storefront, Discovery, an AI customer-service agent, Ship (multi-carrier shipping, rates and labels), Global (cross-border pricing, tax and duties), Sales Tax, Returns, Checkout+ and a Landed Cost API, and says it is "Powering 1000+ Global Businesses". Its returns page positions the product as "Exchanges, store credit, reverse logistics, and returns intelligence, all in one returns platform", with "rules by product or region", "Shop Now and Shop Later exchange flows", "Local return addresses and consolidation hubs" and "3PL & WMS integrations". On platform it says "Built for Shopify. Not limited to Shopify": Swap "runs as a Shopify returns app and as headless returns infrastructure via API". Customers named on its pages include Ed Hardy, Stripe & Stare, Manors Golf, Red Equipment and Serge DeNimes. The field around it is in Swap Commerce alternative.
Loop Returns in one paragraph
Loop calls itself "The post-purchase platform that turns returns into revenue", one that "unites tracking, editing, returns, exchanges, fraud prevention, shipping, and more", "Originally built for Shopify. Now available on all platforms." Its products are Returns, Exchanges, Integrations, Checkout+, Tracking, Promise, Editing, Protection and Shipping, with Intelligence and Fraud as data products, and its FAQ says it serves "5,000+ ecommerce brands". Non-Shopify brands use the suite "alongside a custom implementation"; Shopify brands "can go live in 15-45 days". Customers named on its pages include Brooklinen, Reebok, Princess Polly, Oh Polly, Alohas, Represent and Jones Road Beauty. See Loop Returns alternative for the field around it.

The honest read: the two portals are closer than either vendor's comparison page suggests. Both are exchange-first with Shop Now and Shop Later, both fund free returns at checkout, both bundle protection. The differences are in what surrounds the portal: Swap adds outbound shipping, duties and taxes and sales tax; Loop adds tracking, delivery promise and order editing.
Pricing, as each publishes it
Loop's pricing page lists two tiers. Checkout+ is "Free", described as "Free software + return shipping. All of Loop's best functionality", including "Returns software", "US & Canada domestic return labels", "Return BarsĀ®" and "Advanced features", with the caveat "Not every merchant qualifies. Eligibility is based on your order and return volume." Returns is "Starting at $340 per month" and lists "Up to 1,000 returns", "Shop Now", "Instant Exchange", "Bonus Credit" and "Fraud prevention". Our Loop Returns pricing page was written from the version read on 25 September 2026, which also listed an Essential tier at $155 per month; the page read today shows only the two tiers above, so take the live page as current.
Swap publishes no price list. There is no pricing page on swap-commerce.com (the /pricing address returned a 404 when we checked), the returns page says Swap "is priced around the returns volume and value it handles" and to "book a demo" for a number, and the Checkout+ FAQ says "Swap platform fees stay capped at 3% as they do across the platform" and "Revenue-share terms are set per brand". Two other published terms matter for a budget: return labels on your own carrier contracts carry "no hidden fees or markups", and cancelling needs "30 days' notice". Treat Swap's price as not published and model total cost per return from a quote.
Is Swap or Loop better for a fashion brand?
For fashion the return is usually a size or a colour, so the exchange toolset comes first, and here the two are close. Loop lists Variant Exchanges, Advanced Exchanges (for products that "look the same, but aren't structured as one product in your backend"), Instant Exchanges approved "before the return is received", Shop Now, Shop Later and Bonus Credit. Swap lists "Exchange- and credit-first flows" with "rules by product or region", "Shop Now and Shop Later exchange flows" and bonus store credit. Neither vendor publishes a figure that separates them on exchange performance, and this page does not invent one.
The second question is where your returns come from. Both free-returns opt-ins are domestic: Swap's Checkout+ "Free returns apply to US and UK domestic orders", Loop's includes "US & Canada domestic return labels". A fashion brand selling from the UK into the EU, or from the US into Canada and Australia, needs each vendor's answer on the international return. Swap's, on its own page, is one portal with "Local return addresses and consolidation hubs" and "correct duty and tax handling on the return leg", the free-returns label on international orders "at the brand's discretion". Loop's is "Cross Border Returns" on the pricing grid and integrations with "many other solutions that support cross-border returns and shipping". Ask which solution, in which countries, at what cost per label.
The third is the stack. On Shopify, both install natively. Off it, Swap states API infrastructure "for headless, custom, and non-Shopify storefronts" and Loop states "a custom implementation" with longer onboarding. Get the plan and timeline in writing from either.
The fourth is what you want beyond returns. Swap's fashion page sells size and fit guidance and virtual try-on as part of its storefront product, and its platform adds outbound shipping and duties. Loop adds tracking, delivery promise and order editing. A brand whose biggest cost is cross-border returns leans Swap; one whose biggest cost is domestic refunds and tickets leans Loop.
Which fits which brand
- A US or Canadian Shopify fashion brand with mostly domestic returns that wants tracking, delivery promise and order editing from the returns vendor and a published starting price: Loop.
- A UK or EU fashion brand selling cross-border, or any brand that wants outbound shipping, duties and taxes and returns on one contract with one portal: Swap.
- A headless or non-Shopify brand: both say yes, Swap through API infrastructure, Loop through a custom implementation. Compare the two plans, not the two yeses.
- A brand that wants free returns without paying for them: both Checkout+ products, both domestic. Compare who handles claims (Swap: its "automated portal"; Loop: DIY or Seel), which orders qualify, and what comes back to you (Swap "pays the brand a net share"; Loop's fees "reduce, or completely cover, your shipping & software costs").
Where Pango fits
Neither vendor lists a warehouse module of its own, and both sell the returns journey beside the outbound journey rather than on the same order record as the delivery promise, the carrier choice and the tracking event that triggered the return. Pango is an AI-native, agentic operating system for e-commerce logistics. Returns, exchanges and claims run on the same order record as checkout delivery options, carrier routing and rate shopping, warehouse pick and pack and branded tracking: return and exchange rules are written in natural language and compiled into per-merchant workflows, a customer can exchange into any product in the store rather than only another size or colour, and labels, customs and cross-border documents and refund logic are generated per merchant and per country. It connects to carriers through prebuilt connectors and onboards Shopify-first with a guided setup. Pricing: see pango.ai/pricing. For the category view, see returns management software and exchange management software; for the shortlist, best returns software for fashion brands.
The bottom line
Swap and Loop sell near-identical returns portals wrapped in different platforms: Swap's around shipping, duties and taxes, Loop's around tracking, delivery promise and editing. Loop publishes a starting price, Swap does not. Decide on where your returns come from, then model total cost per return from both.
