Next Delivery Times, Tracking and Returns: Next Day to Home, to Store and to a Parcelshop, the 11pm Cut-Off, nextunlimited, Evri as the Carrier, the 28-Day Returns Window, and What Next Says When an Order Is Late, From Next's Own Pages

"How long does Next take to deliver" has an unusually short answer for a UK retailer, because Next's standard service is next day, and Next publishes the cut-off, the prices, the store collection times and the returns rules on its help centre and in its terms. This page collects them in one place, quoting next.co.uk's own pages fetched on 2026-10-26: the delivery options and their cut-offs, nextunlimited, how tracking works and what Next tells you when an order is late, the carrier Next names, and the returns window, fee and methods. What the carrier's statuses mean is on the carrier hub linked below.

Short answer: Next's delivery is built around one cut-off: "order before 11pm" and the order arrives "the very next day". Next Day to Home is £4.95, Next Day to an Evri Parcelshop or Post Office £3.50, and Next Day to Store is free: "order by 11pm" and the parcel is "available to collect in most stores the next day from 1pm Monday to Saturday and from 2pm on Sundays" (at peak Next "may charge 25p" for the store service). Items in stock at your store can be collected the same day, "ready in under 1 hour". Two-person furniture delivery is £30. nextunlimited is "a one-off payment of £24.50 per year" for "unlimited deliveries with no additional shipping fees" on home and Parcelshop delivery, with "no minimum spend" and two-person furniture excluded. The carrier is Evri, and tracking runs through My Account and Next's tracking emails, which end with "a link to the Evri portal". Returns: "28 days to return any unwanted items", counted "from the day after the items were delivered", to a store, by Evri collection from home (charged at £2.50 per collection), a Parcelshop or Royal Mail; outside 28 days Next issues an eVoucher instead of a refund. If an order is delayed, "we'll send you an email to keep you updated".

UK delivery times and cut-offs

Same day collection (store stock)"Same day collection ready in under 1 hour", "available for collection during store opening times"FreeTerms: an order placed less than an hour before closing is "ready for you to collect within 1 hour of the store opening" the next day
Next Day to Evri Parcelshop or Post Office"Order by 11pm" for "next day delivery to Parcelshops around the UK"£3.50, "free with nextunlimited"
Send to a friend"Order before 11pm" for next day delivery to an alternative address£4.95, "free with nextunlimited"
Two-person furniture deliveryWeekend delivery for furniture, upholstery and large homeware "between 7.30am and 6.00pm Saturday and Sunday""£30.00 per delivery"Unwrapped and placed in the room of your choice; excluded from nextunlimited

Two rules from Next's terms sit over the table: "next day delivery is subject to stock, courier availability and courier area", and "the next day delivery service applies to most orders placed before 11pm", which is Next's own hedge that some items and areas fall outside it; the checkout shows the date for your order.

The 11pm cut-off

Next states its cut-off as a clock time on every service: 11pm for home, store and Parcelshop delivery, "on any day" for the store service. Orders after 11pm roll to the following day's cycle. Next Day is not universal: Next's terms make it "subject to stock, courier availability and courier area", and Next's nextunlimited page describes the home and Parcelshop services it covers without promising next day everywhere, so the delivery date shown at checkout is the one that applies.

nextunlimited

"For a one-off payment of £24.50 per year (equivalent to £2.04/month)", nextunlimited gives "unlimited deliveries with no additional shipping fees" on the home delivery ("usually £4.95") and Parcelshop delivery ("usually £3.50") services. "There is no minimum spend. Whether you are ordering a £5 pair of socks or a £100 jacket." Two-person furniture is excluded: "any items/orders requiring '2-person furniture delivery' are excluded", and those items "carry a separate delivery charge (typically £30.00)"; Next's terms add that subscriptions started or renewed on or after 25 November 2025, and auto-renewals on or after 5 January 2026, no longer include free two-person furniture delivery. A "30-day free trial is currently available to nextpay credit account holders", and the subscription auto-renews: "your trial will automatically convert into a full 12-month subscription, and the £24.50 fee will be added to your nextpay account".

How tracking works, and the carrier Next names

Next tracks orders in My Account: "log in to My Account using your email address or customer number and password", "select 'My Orders' from the menu on the left-hand side", and you see "a history of all your recent orders", "up-to-date parcel statuses" and "the delivery destination". Alongside that, "you will receive tracking emails throughout, which detail how many parcels have been despatched and include all of your delivery information", and on delivery "we send a email once your items have been delivered, which also includes a link to the Evri portal with information on your delivery". The carrier Next names for home delivery is Evri, and for Parcelshop delivery Evri Parcelshops and Post Offices; what each Evri status means, from "on its way" to "out for delivery" and the Parcelshop deadlines, is in Evri tracking statuses, and what "out for delivery" promises on any carrier is in does out for delivery mean today. For store orders, Next asks you to "allow 3-10 days for the store to scan the parcel" when a store scan is missing, and, if a parcel is redirected to the wrong store, to "allow 48 hours for the parcel to be redirected to your selected store".

When a Next order is late or missing

Next's own rules, in order. On delay: "if your order is delayed, we'll send you an email to keep you updated", and the advice is to monitor "your order tracking for updates by logging into My Account and selecting 'My Orders'". On a stalled status: if "your tracking status has not changed and you need further support", contact Next through its contact options; Next's help page gives the phone number 0333 777 8000 and the email customer_team@next.co.uk. On a parcel marked delivered that you do not have: check "the Map and Image of the delivered location" in your account and the Evri portal link in the delivery email, then "please contact us". The checklist of where to look first (safe place, neighbours, the Parcelshop) and what to tell the retailer is in package says delivered but not received. Next publishes no "wait this many days" rule for a late parcel; the delay email and the unchanged-status test are its rules.

Returns: window, methods and fee

From Next's returns policy: "you have 28 days to return any unwanted items to us", and "any returned items must be in perfect condition and in the original packaging". The clock: "the 28 days will start from the day after the items were delivered to your home address", or, "if delivered to store, the 28 days starts from the day after the items were collected". Inside the window, "we'll process a full refund back to your original payment method"; outside it, "we'll issue you with an eVoucher instead of a refund to your original payment method". Methods: a Next store, "a local courier, parcel shop or Royal Mail", with Evri courier collection from home charged, per Next's terms, at "£2.50 per collection even if you return multiple orders via one collection"; Next's terms also list the items Evri Parcelshops will not accept for return, including two-person deliveries and certain designer, floral, wine and appliance products. Timing: "it can take up to 7 days for the items to be scanned into our warehouse, although it is usually much quicker". If you return the whole order, "the £4.95 delivery charge will be refunded". Two-person furniture has its own rules: a non-refundable £30 collection charge in the first 14 days after delivery if delivery is refused or collection requested, rising to £60 if returned 15 to 30 days after delivery, unless the product is faulty.

For merchants

Next's pages show what a next-day promise looks like when it is written down: one cut-off as a clock time, a price per destination type, store collection hours, a named carrier, and a hedge ("subject to stock, courier availability and courier area") that tells the customer the checkout date is the real one. What a brand cannot copy from the page is the operation underneath: an 11pm cut-off only holds if the warehouse's measured handover time and the carrier's collection schedule are known per order, the tracking emails have to carry one status set rather than the carrier's raw feed, and the delay email has to fire from the delay scan rather than from a ticket. Pango computes the checkout promise from handling time, cut-offs and measured carrier performance, normalises the statuses of every connected carrier into one milestone set on the brand's own tracking page, and sends the delay and failed-attempt messages automatically; the returns policy a brand writes, with its window, methods and fees, is the subject of how to write a return policy.

The bottom line

Next publishes one cut-off, 11pm, and one promise, the very next day, with a price for each destination and free collection from store. Track in My Account and the Evri portal, expect a delay email if the date slips, and return within 28 days of the day after delivery for a refund rather than an eVoucher.
