"How long does Temu take to ship to South Africa" is answered on Temu's own South Africa pages, and this page collects the answer: each method with its time and price, the import-related fee, what SARS publishes on import VAT, what Temu gives you if an order is late, and when to contact Temu. Every Temu fact is quoted from temu.com/za, read on 2026-11-03; the tax lines are quoted from SARS. How Temu delivers in general is in how long does Temu take to deliver, and the status sequence in Temu tracking statuses.
Short answer: Temu South Africa lists Standard Shipping as "FREE on all orders" in "8 - 16 business days", and Click & Collect also free in "8 - 16 business days", after 1 to 3 days of processing; there is no express option. Unlike in the UK, Temu does not say duties are included: "Importation of shipments into South Africa will be subject to applicable import-related fee, amounts of which will be displayed on the checkout page." SARS publishes that "The VAT rate in South Africa is 15%" and that the old flat rate for low-value parcels was reformed in 2024. If an order arrives late, Temu gives "a 20 ZAR credit (standard shipping)". Temu names no South African carrier on these pages.
What Temu South Africa publishes
| Method | Time | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Shipping | "8 - 16 business days" | "FREE on all orders" |
| Click & Collect | "8 - 16 business days" | "FREE on all orders" |
| Processing | "It may take 1-3 days to process your order." |
Temu adds: "FREE STANDARD SHIPPING/CLICK & COLLECT applies to all orders." Tracking, as Temu explains it, "won't update until your package arrives in South Africa and is picked up by local logistics service providers".
The import-related fee, and what SARS publishes
Temu's own wording: "Importation of shipments into South Africa will be subject to applicable import-related fee, amounts of which will be displayed on the checkout page." Temu's South Africa terms add that the buyer pays applicable fees, VAT and customs duties, as the importer, and that Temu may appoint "an eligible agent (e.g., a customs broker)". SARS's own pages: "The VAT rate in South Africa is 15%", calculated as "[(Customs Value + 10% thereof) + (any non-rebated duties levied on the goods)] x 15%". SARS's media release of 8 August 2024 describes the old concession for "goods valued at less than R500, in terms of which importers paid a flat rate of 20% in lieu of Customs duties and no VAT", and its replacement: "The introduction of VAT in addition to the current 20% flat rate Customs duty by 1 September 2024", then a reconfiguration of the flat rate into categories "by 1 November 2024". SARS publishes no consumer page we could find with the current category rates, so none is stated here; the fee shown at Temu's checkout is the one that applies to your order.
The late-delivery credit
Temu South Africa's FAQ: "we offer you a 20 ZAR credit (standard shipping) to your account" if the order arrives late, within 48 hours of the latest delivery date given to you, with exclusions such as an incorrect address or a parcel waiting for pickup by you.
Carriers, and when to contact Temu
Temu's South Africa pages name no delivery carrier; your tracking shows which carrier has the parcel once it reaches South Africa. If the parcel has not arrived after the latest estimated delivery date, contact Temu from the order.
For merchants
Temu South Africa shows the import fee at checkout instead of at the door, which keeps the parcel moving at customs. A brand shipping into South Africa can do the same by collecting duties and VAT at checkout and showing the same order on the tracking page. Pango controls the shipping methods, prices and ETAs shown at checkout, handles cross-border documents, and normalises carrier statuses on a branded tracking page with proactive notifications.
The bottom line
Temu ships to South Africa free in 8 to 16 business days, by Standard or Click & Collect, after 1 to 3 days of processing, with the import-related fee shown and paid at checkout and a 20 ZAR credit if the date slips.
