Track123 is a good tracking app and its ratings earn that: 4.9 stars across 1,708 Shopify reviews, a Built for Shopify badge, 14 interface languages, and a genuinely nice map-based tracking page. Founded in September 2021, it now claims tens of thousands of merchants. If you want a branded tracking page live this afternoon for nine dollars, it is a sensible purchase.
The reason to look for a Track123 alternative is where the product begins and ends. Track123 starts once a tracking number already exists, and their own FAQ says so: "Generally, you need to obtain the tracking numbers from either the carrier or the fulfillment platform that you're using." It does not create shipments, choose carriers, or handle returns in any form. Pango is the alternative for stores whose problem is the operation that produces the tracking number in the first place.
What Track123 does, precisely
- Branded, map-based tracking pages in 14 languages, hosted on a Track123 subdomain or your Shopify apps path, plus an order lookup page and account widgets.
- Shipment notifications and Apple Wallet tracking, with custom statuses on paid plans.
- Status normalization into nine standard states (pending, info received, in transit, out for delivery, waiting for pickup, delivered, exception, failed attempt, expired) with 28 substatuses.
- Dropshipping mode, documented in unusual detail: blacklist "China", "aliexpress" and Chinese characters so those tracking details are "replaced with 'In transit to next facility'", and "hide the original carrier and display only the last-mile carrier to your customers".
- Product recommendations on the tracking page, sourced from Shopify's own recommendation API, a collection, or newest products, plus a reorder button.
- Estimated delivery dates with carrier-first then custom-rule fallback, on the Advanced plan.
Their carrier claim moves around: 1,700+ on the marketing site, 1,500+ in the Shopify help centre, 1,400+ on their Shopify page, while the carrier list their own site loads contains 2,417 entries. For a Shopify merchant, the number in their Shopify documentation, "Access to 1,500+ carriers", is the one to hold them to.
What does not exist in Track123
This is the short section that decides most switches. Across their Shopify listing, all 95 help-centre articles and all 29 platform documentation pages:
- No returns or exchanges. At all. Their Shopify partner page lists "1 app", and the words return, exchange and refund appear zero times in the listing. There is no returns portal, no return label, no store credit.
- No shipping labels, no rate shopping, no carrier routing. Nothing creates or books a shipment. Their carrier connections feature is read-only: "link your own carrier accounts directly to Track123, so tracking data is pulled from your account instead."
- No warehouse or fulfillment. The word warehouse appears only as an input to delivery-date maths: "Processing time is the number of days your warehouse needs to prepare an order before shipping."
- AI is three narrow things. A CSS generator for styling the tracking page (capped at 5 to 50 uses a day by plan), the recommendation widget, and a read-only MCP server that lets you ask Claude or Cursor "What's the status of order #1012?". The MCP integration is a nice touch and worth crediting, but every documented example is a question. Nothing in Track123 takes an action.
The pricing you see and the pricing you pay
The Shopify App Store shows three tiers: Starter free for 50 orders a month, Growth at $9 for 300, Advanced at $49 for 2,000. Their own price-plan article publishes the full ladder, and it goes considerably further:
| Orders / month | Monthly |
|---|---|
| 300 (Growth) | $9 |
| 1,000 | $29 |
| 2,000 (Advanced) | $49 |
| 5,000 | $99 |
| 10,000 | $179 |
| 25,000 | $349 |
| 50,000 | $599 |
Above 50,000 orders it is Enterprise pricing on request. Overage is "$0.05 per extra order beyond your limit" on monthly billing, and on annual billing there is no overage at all: you upgrade or syncing stops.
Three mechanics worth knowing before you commit:
- Running out stops the tracking. "Once your plan quota has been exhausted, Track123 will stop syncing orders from Shopify." A quota is consumed the moment an order is synced, and customer lookups are free.
- Backfill is limited. By default only the last 14 days of orders sync, extendable to 60 days manually. After an upgrade, "Track123 will auto-sync the orders of the last 7 days. you need to manually click the 'Sync' button to synchronize your other orders again."
- Downgrading is a cliff, and uninstalling still bills. "You will not be able to access any Growth feature if you switch to free Starter plan", and per their billing FAQ you "can still be charged the full plan price for the last month" after uninstalling.
Note also that carrier auto-correction, the feature that fixes a misdetected carrier, is Advanced-only, and it waits four days of silence before testing "the top 5 most likely carriers".

| AI | CSS generator, recommendations, read-only MCP lookup | Assistant that acts, plus agents |
| Platform | Shopify app; separate platform for Shoplazza, BigCommerce, Shopline | Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, custom |
One clarification if you are comparing their documentation: Track123 runs two products with two pricing systems. The Shopify app is order-based on Starter, Growth and Advanced. The standalone track123.com platform is shipment-quota based on Free, Pro and Advanced and connects Shoplazza, BigCommerce and Shopline, not Shopify. Plan names and overage rates differ between them, so read the one that matches your stack.
When stores outgrow it
A tracking app is the correct first purchase, and for many stores it is the only one they need. The switch happens when the questions change: when a return should become an exchange instead of a refund, when one carrier keeps failing a region and something should reroute, when the warehouse needs to act on a delivery event, or when the order-quota bill starts scaling faster than the value.
Pango runs those on one order record: carrier routing, tracking with proactive delay messaging, warehouse pick and pack and exchange-first returns, with an assistant you instruct rather than a widget you configure. See best order tracking software for the tracking field, or true cost of a return for why the returns gap matters financially.
See it on your own orders
Track123 shows customers where a parcel is, well and cheaply. Pango runs the operation that gets it there and handles it coming back. Explore the post-purchase operations platform and book a demo.
