Shopee tracking is two layers stitched together. The app shows an order under a handful of Shopee states, To Pay, To Ship, To Receive, Completed, and underneath those sits the carrier's own scan feed, most often from SPX Express, Shopee's in-house delivery arm, or from one of the third-party carriers Shopee calls Shopee Supported Logistics. The carrier feed is where the confusing lines live: "parcel has arrived at mega sorting centre", "parcel has departed from sorting facility", "in transit". This guide explains both layers in order, what the sorting-centre scans actually record, how long updates take by Shopee's own guidance, and the exact point at which to act. Every Shopee rule quoted below comes from Shopee's help centres in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines, fetched on 2026-10-20.
Short answer: "Arrived at mega sorting centre" means your parcel is inside one of SPX's sorting facilities, being scanned and grouped by destination before it moves to the delivery hub that serves your address; it is normal mid-journey movement, not an arrival near you. Shopee's own guidance is that tracking updates can take 24 to 48 hours to appear, so a quiet day after a sorting scan is the system working. The app state tells you the stage: To Ship means the seller still has the parcel, To Receive means it is with the carrier. Shopee's logistics partners usually attempt delivery up to 3 times, on following working days, before a parcel goes back to the seller; a parcel at a self-collection point is cancelled and refunded if it is not collected within three to five days of the notification. If the Estimated Delivery Date passes, the request is Return/Refund, "I didn't receive some/all of my items", "Parcel not delivered".
Shopee's own order states
Shopee groups every order under six states, in its own words:
| Shopee state | Shopee's definition | What it means for tracking |
|---|---|---|
| To Pay | "Unpaid orders" | Nothing has shipped; complete payment |
| To Ship | "Paid, scheduled, and ready-for-pick-up orders" | The seller has the parcel; the carrier has not scanned it yet |
| To Receive | "Orders scheduled for delivery" | The carrier has the parcel; the scan feed below applies |
| Completed | "Delivered orders" | The carrier confirmed delivery |
| Cancelled | "Canceled orders" | The transaction ended |
| Return/Refund | "Returned or refunded orders" | A return or refund request is open or done |
To see the scan feed, Shopee's instruction is: go to Me, then My Purchases, select the order under To Ship or To Receive, and tap Shipment Status (or Track Order) for the detailed delivery updates. For Shopee Supported Logistics, tracking numbers are available in the app; for orders shipped by other carriers, Shopee says tracking numbers will not be available, you will not be notified when the order is delivered, and you should contact the seller directly through Shopee Chat.
The SPX Express scans, in order
Shopee publishes a "List of Shipping and Delivery Status Definitions" for its partnered couriers on its Philippines help centre. It is an image rather than text, so it is transcribed here: the status as Shopee shows it (with the cross-border wording where it differs) and Shopee's own definition, in Shopee's order. Shopee splits them into a normal flow and an unsuccessful flow.
| Shopee status | Cross-border wording | Shopee's definition |
|---|---|---|
| Order placed | same | "Default status - when order is placed" |
| Preparing to ship | same | "Seller has arranged shipment (tracking number created & waiting for pickup)" |
| (cross-border only) | Processing for Overseas Shipment | "Parcel is picked up by first mile 3PL towards transit warehouse" |
| (cross-border only) | In transit to [country] | "Departure from origin port to destination country & export custom clearance" |
| (cross-border only) | Arrived at [country] | "Arrived at destination port & import custom clearance" |
| In transit | same | "Transported by domestic 3PL to domestic sorting hub" |
| Ready for Collection | same | "Only for self-collection channel: parcel arrived at collection point" |
| Out for Delivery | same | "Delivery attempt made from sorting hub to buyer" |
| Delivered | same | "Parcel is delivered successfully" |
| Delivery Unsuccessful | same | "Parcel lost or delivery attempt failed or collection expired" |
| Cancelled | same | "Order is cancelled" |
Underneath these tracking groups sit the courier's own scans. The SPX Express scan text shoppers see and search is below, in the order a parcel moves, with the meaning each scan records; the generic sorting and hub scans are read the same way on every carrier.
| Order | Scan | What it records | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Order placed / seller is preparing to ship | The order is paid and the seller is packing it; this is the To Ship state | Wait; message the seller only if it sits past the seller's handover time |
| 2 | Parcel has been picked up / parcel received by SPX | The first carrier scan; the order moves to To Receive | Nothing |
| 3 | Parcel has arrived at sorting centre / parcel has arrived at mega sorting centre | Inside an SPX sorting facility, being scanned and grouped by destination | Nothing; see the section below |
| 4 | Parcel has departed from sorting facility / in transit | Left the sorting centre toward the next facility or the delivery hub | Nothing; quiet stretches between scans are normal |
| 5 | Parcel has arrived at delivery hub / arrived at the last-mile hub | At the SPX hub that serves your address | Nothing; delivery is usually next |
| 6 | Out for delivery / parcel is out for delivery | On a vehicle for today's route | Be reachable |
| 7 | Delivery attempt failed / unable to deliver | The courier could not complete the delivery | See the attempts section below |
| 8 | Parcel is at the collection point / ready for self-collection | Waiting at the Self Collection Point you chose | Collect it before the last day for pick-up |
| 9 | Delivered | Handed over, or left as instructed | Tap Order Received; report fast if it is not there |
| 10 | Returning to seller / returned to seller | The attempts ran out or the parcel could not be delivered | Contact the seller through Shopee Chat |
The sorting and hub scans are the same movement every carrier records; the generic reading of each, with how long a parcel normally stays and when a repeat is a problem, is in arrived at sort facility meaning and sorting center meaning.
What "arrived at mega sorting centre" means on Shopee
A sorting centre is a carrier building where parcels are scanned in, sorted by destination and sent on; it is not the delivery office and not near you unless it is the last one. "Mega sorting centre" is the name SPX gives to its largest sorting facilities; the scan records the same thing as "arrived at sorting centre", at a bigger building. Your parcel has entered that facility, and the next scan should be "departed from sorting facility" or "in transit", then the arrival at the delivery hub for your area, then "out for delivery". On a long route a parcel passes two or more sorting centres, so the arrive-and-depart pair can repeat.
Two things to know. First, Shopee says tracking updates can take 24 to 48 hours to appear, and that updates refresh every 24 to 48 hours, so a sorting scan followed by a day of silence is normal. Second, the scan says nothing about delivery date; the Estimated Delivery Date on the order does. How long a parcel normally stays in a sorting centre, and when a repeated sorting scan is a problem, is in sorting center meaning.
How long Shopee delivery takes
Shopee publishes delivery windows per market, and they are the only ranges to hold a parcel to. For Malaysia, Shopee's help centre lists Standard Shipping within Malaysia at 1 to 7 days, Sea Shipping up to 25 days and Air Freight 7 to 20 days, and states that these timeframes exclude weekends, public holidays and the logistics partner's non-working days, and may vary during campaigns, public holidays and unforeseen circumstances. For the Philippines, Shopee defines Courier Delivery Lead Time as "the estimated number of days it takes for your order to arrive after pickup by Shopee's logistics partner", depending on the buyer's location, the seller's address and the courier's working days, with Metro Manila to Metro Manila at 4 to 6 days and overseas orders at 9 to 18 days in total. The Estimated Delivery Date on the order, under Me, To Receive, My Purchases, is the figure that applies to your parcel, and Shopee notes it may change during high delivery volumes.
Delivery attempts, redelivery and collection points
Shopee's Malaysian help centre says couriers usually attempt delivery up to 3 times. Its Singapore help centre is more precise: Shopee Supported Logistics partners, except uParcel, will make 3 delivery attempts, with the re-attempt done on the following working days, before returning the order to the seller due to failed delivery. For an SPX parcel, Shopee's redelivery route is the in-app chatbot: go to Me, tap Chat with Shopee, type "Re-delivery", select the order and confirm; for the other partners, Shopee lists their tracking sites and phone lines. The general meaning of a failed attempt, and the card or message it leaves, is in attempted delivery meaning.
If you chose a Self Collection Point, Shopee sends an app notification and a WhatsApp message when the parcel arrives, showing the branch, a 6-digit PIN and the last day for pick-up; you show the PIN or the barcode to collect. The deadline matters: Shopee states that if you fail to collect the parcel within three to five days of receiving the notification, the items are cancelled and refunded depending on the payment method.
When to act
- To Ship for longer than the seller's handover time. The seller has the parcel. Message the seller through Shopee Chat.
- A sorting or transit scan, then silence for a day or two. Normal: Shopee's own updates take 24 to 48 hours.
- Delivery attempt failed. Expect a re-attempt on the following working day; for SPX, request redelivery through Chat with Shopee. Three failed attempts send the parcel back to the seller.
- At the collection point. Collect within the window on the notification; three to five days, then cancellation and refund.
- Past the Estimated Delivery Date. Shopee's route: Me, My Purchases, To Receive, select the order, tap Return/Refund, choose "I didn't receive some/all of my items", select "Parcel not delivered". If the date was moved because of high volumes, the button is temporarily unavailable; if the Shopee Guarantee period has ended, Shopee asks you to contact its support channels.
- Delivered but nothing arrived. Do not tap Order Received. Check the drop spot and household first, then raise the same Return/Refund request; the checklist is in package says delivered but not received.
Tracking an order from another marketplace? The same playbook exists for AliExpress, Temu and the cross-border network behind both, Cainiao.
The merchant view
Shopee's two-layer tracking is the pattern every marketplace seller lives with: the platform's clean states on top, the carrier's raw scan text underneath, and a buyer who reads "arrived at mega sorting centre" as either good news or a stall. A brand shipping its own orders sees the same gap with every carrier it uses. The fix is translation: map each carrier's sorting, hub and attempt scans onto one set of milestones in the customer's language, and message the attempt and collection deadlines before the customer has to ask. Pango normalises the statuses of every connected carrier into one milestone set and treats stalls between scans as triggers for proactive messages. If your sorting-centre scans are generating tickets, the options to compare are in carrier management software.
The bottom line
Shopee's app states tell you who has the parcel; the SPX scans tell you where it is. "Arrived at mega sorting centre" is a normal sorting step at a large facility, followed by the departure, the delivery hub and "out for delivery", and Shopee's own guidance allows 24 to 48 hours between updates. The three delivery attempts, the collection-point window and the Return/Refund route after the Estimated Delivery Date are the rules that need you; everything else is the parcel moving.
