Loop and Narvar both run returns and exchanges for online brands and both now sell tracking around them, so the comparison comes down to where each started, who each is built for, and how each prices. Every vendor statement on this page is quoted from that vendor's own website or its own Shopify App Store listing, read on 2026-11-02; outcome percentages from vendor pages are not repeated, and each vendor's pages about the other are not used. The three-way view with AfterShip is in Narvar vs Loop Returns vs AfterShip.
Short answer: Loop is an exchange-first returns platform built around Shopify ("Loop was and is currently for Shopify brands"), with Instant Exchanges, exchanges "for any product in your catalog", printerless returns and box-free drop-off, and a published price: "Starting at $340 per month" for "Up to 1,000 returns", plus a free Checkout+ tier "for brands with 5k+ annual orders". Narvar is an enterprise post-purchase suite that started with tracking: "Trusted by 1,500+ global brands and integrated with 1,000+ carriers", with branded tracking pages, notifications across "Email, SMS, WhatsApp and Line", and its own returns and fraud product, Narvar Shield. Narvar publishes no pricing; its Shopify returns app is listed as free. Pick Loop for a Shopify brand where exchanges are the strategy and a published price matters; pick Narvar for a larger, multi-channel retailer that wants tracking, notifications and returns from one enterprise vendor. Pango is the alternative when returns should run on the same system that runs the outbound shipment, the carriers and the warehouse.
Free for DTC brands: Pango runs the shipping and returns audit on your own order and carrier data as part of a demo: fifteen numbers across checkout, carriers, warehouse handover, tracking and returns, the three that matter most for your operation, and the same orders shown running on one system. Loop Returns vs Narvar side by side
| Loop Returns | Narvar | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it started | Returns and exchanges for Shopify brands: "Loop was and is currently for Shopify brands" | Tracking and post-purchase for retailers: "Trusted by 1,500+ global brands" |
| Returns and exchanges | Instant Exchanges; exchanges "for any product in your catalog"; Printerless Returns; "Access to box-free/label-free" drop-off; "integrate partners like Happy Returns for box-less returns" | Narvar Shield: "a comprehensive returns management software that helps retailers prevent fraud, protect revenue, customize return policies, and streamline the reverse logistics process"; drop-off "at 200,000+ locations" for Shopify returns |
| Return rules | "Workflows run approvals, routing, and refunds based on rules you set" | Eligibility rules and automated exchange options inside Shield |
| Tracking | Part of the platform: "Loop's AI-powered platform unites tracking, editing, returns, exchanges, fraud prevention, shipping" | "Build beautifully branded tracking pages that can be completely customized based on an order's shipment status and consumer's locale."; a "self-serve track page editor" |
| Notifications | Not set out channel by channel on the pages read | "Communicate across multiple channels like Email, SMS, WhatsApp and Line."; FAQ adds "mobile push notifications" |
| Shopify fit | Built for Shopify; "Also available for BigCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Adobe Commerce, and other platforms" | "The ultimate post-purchase solution for Shopify merchants"; its App Store app, Narvar Return and Exchange, is "purpose-built for Shopify merchants" |
| Pricing model as published | "Starting at $340 per month", "Up to 1,000 returns"; Checkout+ "Free for brands with 5k+ annual orders" | No public pricing: Narvar's pricing URL returns 404 and the site offers demos; the Shopify returns app is listed "Free" |
One note on the table. Loop's website states the returns plan as "Up to 1,000 returns" while its Shopify listing says "up to 1k monthly returns"; both are Loop's own wording, and the listing makes the monthly basis explicit.
Which fits which brand
- A Shopify brand where exchanges are the point: Loop. Exchanges for any product, Instant Exchanges and the published monthly price are the centre of every Loop page.
- A multi-channel or enterprise retailer that wants one post-purchase vendor: Narvar. Branded tracking, notifications in more channels, and returns with fraud prevention come from one vendor, priced by quote.
- A Shopify brand that wants Narvar's returns without an enterprise contract: Narvar's Shopify returns app is listed free; check what it includes against Narvar's full Shield product before choosing.
- A brand whose return costs sit in shipping, not the portal: if returns are slow because the label, the carrier and the warehouse receipt run on different systems from the outbound order, neither tool changes that; see below.
Pango as the alternative
Loop and Narvar both cover returns, exchanges and tracking, so the honest difference is not a feature on the portal. It is where the return runs. Both sit on top of the logistics: they issue the label and read the carrier's scans. Pango runs the logistics, with the return on the same order record as the outbound shipment: returns and exchanges with natural-language rules compiled into per-merchant workflows, exchange to any product in the store, labels, cross-border documents and refund logic per merchant and per country, alongside checkout delivery options, multi-carrier routing across more than 100 carriers through prebuilt connectors, warehouse pick and pack, and branded tracking on the merchant's domain with proactive notifications. Pango is not an order management system; it sits on top of the store's OMS. Pricing is on pango.ai/pricing. The vendor-by-vendor views are in Loop Returns alternatives and Narvar alternatives.
The bottom line
Loop is the exchange-first Shopify platform with a published price; Narvar is the enterprise suite that started with tracking and sells returns alongside it, priced by quote. Choose by where your returns problem starts, and if the cost sits in labels, carriers and warehouse receipt rather than in the portal, compare them with a system that runs those steps too.
