Shipup has been one of the strongest post-purchase players in France since 2016, with 700+ brands including L'Occitane, Veja and Withings. It is also mid-transformation: ZigZag Global completed its acquisition of Shipup in April 2026, and per ZigZag's own announcement the combined business "will operate globally under the ZigZag Global brand". The product is now "Shipup by ZigZag", pitched as "the world's most connected post-purchase & returns network".
If you are evaluating it, or re-evaluating it because of the merger, the question is the perimeter. Shipup polishes the delivery experience around shipments your stack already created. It does not create them, route them, or fulfill them, and returns is a paid add-on on top of the subscription. Pango is the alternative that runs the operation itself, not just the experience layer around it.
What Shipup does well
Their pages back this up with numbers:
- Branded tracking pages that keep customers off carrier sites, with "+4 average visits per customer on the tracking page" and "+15% traffic to your e-commerce site".
- Proactive notifications across "email, SMS, WhatsApp and Apple Wallet", including Smart States that "detect when expected delivery events don't occur (e.g., late packages) and automatically notify your customers".
- AI delivery estimates shown from product page to checkout, with a claimed "+12% conversion rate product pages".
- Automated carrier claims, "90% of the pre-filled claim form" and a claimed €2.30 saved per claim.
- Post-delivery surveys that catch dissatisfaction and push happy customers to reviews.
- Since the ZigZag merger, a returns portal with instant exchange, store credit, in-store returns, and access to ZigZag's network ("+170 countries covered, +1,500 delivery services").
For a mid-size or enterprise brand that wants a polished delivery-experience layer and has an ops stack underneath, Shipup is a serious option.
The perimeter, from their own site
- Shipup ingests shipments, it does not create them. Their developer docs describe the integration plainly: "you'll send data about an order when it is shipped." There is no label generation, no rate shopping, and no outbound carrier routing anywhere in the platform or its sitemap. Which carrier takes the parcel is decided in your other systems.
- No outbound fulfillment. Warehouse capability is returns-side, via ZigZag's "220 partner warehouses" for returns processing. Outbound pick and pack is not in the product.
- Returns is an add-on, priced on request. The published plans are €299, €599 and €999 a month, each "with a one-year commitment", plus a per-package price. "Return" sits in the add-ons list of every plan, alongside per-use billing for SMS, WhatsApp, surveys and delivery estimates. Their FAQ adds that onboarding "is chargeable" and that "access to certain plans (Advanced, Premium) becomes mandatory beyond defined thresholds, even if all functionalities are not used."
- The AI predicts, it does not act. Shipup's AI is the delivery-date engine. There is no assistant you can instruct to build a workflow, change a rule, or handle an exception end to end.

Experience layer or operating system
Shipup's own pitch is honest: it customizes the delivery experience. But the events that make or break that experience, the carrier that keeps missing a region, the warehouse cutoff, the exchange that should have replaced a refund, happen below the experience layer, in systems Shipup only observes.
Pango runs those systems: rule-based carrier routing per country and service level, warehouse pick and pack, normalized tracking with proactive delay messages that cut WISMO tickets, and exchange-first returns, all on one order record. The AI assistant executes: ask it what is stalling in transit, then tell it to write the routing rule, in one conversation. See the returns impact at Switch Nails or benchmark your leak with the returns leak calculator.
See it on your own orders
Shipup by ZigZag is a strong experience layer in the middle of a brand transition. Pango is one system for the experience and the operation: checkout promise, carrier routing, warehouse, tracking, returns. Explore the post-purchase operations platform and book a demo.
